SECOND SPRING

HUNDREDS OF NATURAL SECRETS FOR Woman TO REVITALIZE AND REGENERATE AT ANY AGE

by Dr. Maoshing Ni

What do Arianna Huffington, Sheryl Crow, Anjelica Huston, Reba McEntire and Denzel Washington know about maintaining their health, beauty and vitality that you don’t? They know that bitter melon can help you lose weight, grapeseed oil is nature’s antioxidant and some of the best libido boosters come straight from your kitchen, thanks to Dr. Mao. A 38th-generation practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, he now tells all in his new book, SECOND SPRING: HUNDREDS OF NATURAL SECRETS FOR WOMEN TO REVITALIZE AND REGENERATE AT ANY AGE (April 2, 2009; Free Press; $17.99).

Gleaned from years of practice and the 2,000-year-old tradition of healing, Dr. Mao’s simple solutions empower women to take charge of the revitalization and rejuvenation of their body, mind and spirit. SECOND SPRING offers hundreds of tips:

  • Chinese Moss Fights Memory Loss – Chinese club moss can help boost the brain’s chemicals involved in memory and awareness.

  • Horny Goat Weed: The Name Says it All – This discovery by Chinese shepherds can add zest to your love life.

  • Keep Your Joints Jumping – The bark of the eucommia tree can encourage the development of collagen in skin, tendons and ligaments.

  • Turn off the Flash – Use chasteberry supplements to control hot flashes.

  • Natural Oil for Creaky Joints – The oil from tiny krill, the food of whales, can protect the nervous system from free radical damage and reduce arthritic joint discomfort.
  • Got Greens? – Calcium from leafy greens can add to your vitality.
The Joy of Sax – Learn to play a wind instrument to improve lung function and exercise your brain.

  • Watercress Fights Water Weight – Toss watercress into your salad for a natural diuretic.

  • Blue is the Color of Calm – Look at an expanse of blue to feel calm and relaxed.

Three scents for a restful sleep – Use lavender, vanilla and green apple to help induce sleep.

In the book Dr. Mao addresses a variety of subject areas including maintaining ageless beauty, enhancing brain power, promoting restorative sleep, relieving pain naturally, creating higher energy and energizing love and sexuality. Jam-packed with hundreds of helpful secrets, SECOND SPRING is easy to use. A reference in the back of the book allows women customize a plan specific to their own needs to help them, as Dr. Mao says, “Live long, live strong and live happy.”
